Our Term 2 topic in Barbastelles was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We began our topic by transforming our classroom into the land of Narnia, and imagined what we would see when we stepped through our own wardrobes. Through the term we wrote fantastic descriptions of Narnia and painted snowy lamp post scenes, focusing on using size and tone to create depth.

Throughout the term we were also extremely busy preparing for our Christmas performance of A Narnian Nativity. We practised our speaking and listening skills and learnt a range of wintery songs. We also wrote letters to our grown ups, persuading them to come to watch our amazing show. We hope they enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed performing!

At the end of term we all went to the woods to experience a wintery forest for ourselves and to build dens based on the settings in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, before returning to school for hot chocolate and Turkish Delight!

We all had a very busy but magical time exploring the land of Narnia, and look forward to our next topic – The Iron Man.
