Our school day

Our school day is 6.5 hours per day, a total of 32.5 hours per week.

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road users, and it respects the nearby residents and parking regulations.

Alternatively, we have bike racks and scooter park. Please ensure that your child dismounts as they enter the school gate and do not mount until they have left the school grounds.

Playtimes

All year groups have a 20 minute break in the morning. All children are encouraged to play outside, with numerous activities and toys available to them. We ask that all children have a coat and wellies in school during the winter months, and sun cream and hats in the summer, so that they can take advantage of our school’s outside spaces throughout the year.

Reception class children have break times which are flexible and responsive to the children’s needs. Younger children also enjoy an afternoon playtime.

During playtimes our children are supervised by teachers and Teaching Assistants. Whilst at play we expect the children to follow our Behaviour for Learning Policy and staff will continue to support children with their behaviour choices using the Charter for Living and Learning and the 5 point scale. All Teaching Assistants will have completed the Emergency First Aid training course. The children have access to a variety of supervised games including skipping and a variety of resources to encourage active playtimes in line with the principles of our healthy school awards.
